ROUTES
MONDAY
SANTA FE ISLAND
TUESDAY
AM – NORTH SEYMOUR
We will depart by bus to the Itabaca Channel, where we will board the Galaxy Daily. After arriving in North Seymour, we will have a dry landing and immediately start hiking on a 2.5 km (1.55 miles) trail where we can go clockwise along the coast or head inland first to visit the colony of boobies. Get ready to spot land iguanas and marine iguanas; also, a colony of sea lions, lava lizards, frigates, and pelicans! |
PM – BACHAS BEACH |
After, we will go to the beach known as Bachas, located north of Santa Cruz Island. Here we can snorkel or take a relaxing walk on the beach. For this, we will make a wet landing, in which we will jump from the panga to the shore of the beach. Again, we recommend disembarking barefoot and wearing light walking shoes for the rest of the journey. The saltwater lagoon behind the beach often has great blue herons and small birds. Both beaches are nesting areas for green sea turtles. |
WEDNESDAY
AM – BARTOLOME ISLAND
This island, with its iconic pinnacle, is located northwest of Santa Cruz. Upon arriving at Bartolome, we will have a dry landing. Then, we will begin the walk along a path that will take us to the top of the island, through its 395 steps that will end with a spectacular panoramic view of the island and its pinnacle, being the moment to take that stunning photo of our trip. During the walk, we will observe small lava tunnels that are the product of the last eruption and where endemic vegetation grow, such as lava cacti and tiquilla plants, generally surrounded by Darwin’s finches. |
PM – SULLIVAN BAY |
After a breathtaking experience in Bartolome, we will enjoy a succulent lunch onboard the Galaxy Daily. Then, we will head towards Sullivan Bay, where we will enjoy the marine fauna of the Galapagos while we snorkel. Sullivan Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the Galapagos to snorkel due to its crystal-clear waters! |
THURSDAY
AM – SOUTH PLAZAS
Plazas, as many call it, has an incredible landscape, and on our arrival to it, we will have a dry landing while sea lions welcome us at the shore. We will begin our walk along a path through an Opuntia Cactus forest. Continuing our tour, we will reach the fantastic, windy cliff where red-billed tropical birds, swallow-tailed gulls, brown pelicans, and the impressive frigate bird usually fly around. The trail meanders along the edge of the ridge for a few hundred meters. |
PM – CARRION POINT |
After our lunch onboard the Galaxy Daily, we will discover the Galapagos marine fauna while snorkeling. With some luck, we will see white-tip sharks and a great variety of fish, sea turtles, and rays. After this journey, we will return to the Itabaca Channel, where a bus will be waiting for us to take us to Puerto Ayora’s pier, where the adventure of this day ends. |
FRIDAY
AM – MOSQUERA ISLET
We will leave on board a bus for the Itabaca Channel in the morning to visit the Mosquera islet. Here we can enjoy a beautiful coral beach home to colonies of Galapagos sea lions, some swallow-tailed gulls, and the spectacle of marine iguanas swimming or feeding underwater while we snorkel. What a perfect way to begin our adventure this day. |
